Russia and Azerbaijan Strengthen Bilateral Relations

Baku:The development of relations between Russia and Azerbaijan is progressing based on good-neighborliness and mutual respect.

According to Azerbaijan State News Agency, Mikhail Kalugin, Director of the Fourth Department of the CIS Countries at the Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, emphasized the positive trajectory of their relationship, highlighting the successful collaboration in overcoming the tragedy of the December 2024 plane crash. This incident had resulted in the loss of lives from Azerbaijan, Russia, and Kazakhstan.

Kalugin credited the trusting dialogue between Russian President Vladimir Putin and Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev as pivotal in moving past this shared tragedy. He also mentioned ongoing efforts to develop the western branch of the International North-South Transport Corridor, which extends from Russia along the Caspian Sea through Azerbaijan and Iran. This project holds significant importance beyond just the Russian-Azerbaijani relations.
