Baku: Real Madrid lost 1-2 to Atl©tico Madrid in an away match during the seventh round of the Spanish football championship. The defeat came as Real Madrid played with ten men following a sending-off incident.
According to Azeri-Press news agency, Atl©tico Madrid secured the victory with goals from Alejandro Grimaldo, who netted a penalty in the 53rd minute, and Jonathan David, who scored in the 59th minute. Real Madrid’s only goal came from Antonio Rdiger in the 89th minute. The match saw Real Madrid defender Dean Huysen sent off in the 50th minute, leaving the team with ten players on the field.
With this victory, Atl©tico Madrid has overtaken Real Madrid in the Spanish league table. Atl©tico now holds the second position with 16 points, while Real Madrid has slipped to third place with 15 points. Looking ahead, Real Madrid is set to host Villarreal in their next match, whereas Atl©tico Madrid will be traveling to Alaves. Both fixtures are scheduled for October 10.
