Baku: Masim Mammadov, Special Representative of the President of Azerbaijan in Lachin District, is visiting China following an invitation from the Chinese authorities to participate in the World Cleanup Day 2026 global event held in Shaoxing City, Zhejiang Province.
According to Azerbaijan State News Agency, Mammadov met with Shi Huifang, Secretary of the Shaoxing Municipal Committee of the Communist Party of China. The discussions underscored the dynamic development of Azerbaijan-China relations, driven by the political will and direction of Azerbaijan’s President Ilham Aliyev and China’s President Xi Jinping. The cooperation between the two countries is expanding across various sectors.
During the meeting, Mammadov shared insights on the ongoing restoration and reconstruction efforts in Lachin district and emphasized Shaoxing’s experience in urban development. The discussions centered on potential exchanges of expertise and partnership opportunities between Lachin and Shaoxing in the areas of green and sustainable urban development, infrastructure, culture, and tourism.
The importance of World Cleanup Day was also highlighted as a means to promote sustainable development principles, create a clean and modern urban environment, and encourage international experience exchange. The event is organized in close collaboration with the United Nations Human Settlements Programme (UN-Habitat).
