PSG’s Kvaratskhelia to Undergo Surgery After ACL Tear, Season Likely Over

Paris:Paris Saint-Germain winger Khvicha Kvaratskhelia is expected to miss the remainder of the season after rupturing the anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) in his right knee during Tuesday’s 4-2 Champions League victory against Barcelona.

According to Azerbaijan State News Agency, PSG announced that the 25-year-old Georgian international will undergo surgery in the coming days following the injury sustained at the Parc des Princes.

The club confirmed in a statement that Kvaratskhelia suffered the ACL tear during the match against FC Barcelona and will be operated on soon. Although PSG did not specify a timeline for his return, ACL injuries generally require lengthy rehabilitation, making a return this season unlikely for the winger.

Kvaratskhelia sustained the injury after an awkward landing while attempting to tackle Barcelona’s Xavi Espart early in the second half. He was assisted off the field shortly before the hour mark, unable to bear weight on his right leg.

The Georgian player, who transferred from Napoli to PSG in January 2025, was named the 2025-26 UEFA Champions League Player of the Season, contributing significantly to PSG’s second consecutive European title.
