Prosecutor General: Crimes Recorded Across Azerbaijan Decrease in 2024

Baku: In 2024, 33,379 crimes were recorded in the country, Prosecutor General of Azerbaijan Kamran Aliyev said at a meeting of the General Board of the Prosecutor General’s Office of the Republic of Azerbaijan on January 27. The meeting was dedicated to discussing the status of the work done by prosecutorial bodies in the fields of combating crime, investigative work, and prosecutorial supervision in 2024, alongside the tasks ahead.

According to Azeri-Press News Agency, Prosecutor General Kamran Aliyev provided information on the work done in the main areas of activity of the prosecutor’s office and statistical indicators. The Prosecutor General stated that in 2024, 3,432 (9.3%) fewer criminal facts were registered compared to 2023.

It was also added that in 2024, 33,379 crimes were registered in the country, and 87.6 percent of them were solved. In total, a total of 17,155 criminal cases were investigated across the country, of which 1,086 were investigated by prosecutors.

During this period, the prosecutor’s office authorities completed the preliminary investigation of 735 criminal cases against 928 individuals. In total, together with other investigative bodies, 13,551 criminal cases against 14,983 individuals were sent to the courts for revising.
