Bratislava: President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev and President of the Slovak Republic Peter Pellegrini visited the Gate of Freedom Memorial in Bratislava on December 8. The visit underscored the significance of international remembrance and respect for historical events.
According to Azerbaijan State News Agency, the ceremony commenced with the playing of the national anthems of Azerbaijan and Slovakia. Following this, President Ilham Aliyev and President Peter Pellegrini laid wreaths at the memorial, honoring the individuals who lost their lives while attempting to escape from the former Czechoslovakia between 1948 and 1989. The event highlighted a shared commitment to acknowledging past struggles and fostering mutual respect between the two nations.
