Baku: More than 40,000 former Azerbaijani internally displaced persons (IDPs) have returned to the Garabagh region, with further arrivals anticipated. Since 2020, over 45 settlements have been reconstructed and made available to former IDPs. Hikmet Hajiyev, Assistant to the President of Azerbaijan and Head of the Foreign Policy Affairs Department of the Presidential Administration, shared this information while addressing representatives of the diplomatic corps at the Khankendi Cultural Center.
According to Azerbaijan State News Agency, approximately 100,000 individuals are currently working, living, and studying in Garabagh. Hajiyev emphasized the unique experience Azerbaijan has gained in post-conflict reconstruction and rebuilding. He suggested that Azerbaijan’s approach could serve as a model for other regions affected by conflicts and wars. The World Urban Forum, hosted by Azerbaijan, highlighted the importance of cooperation, interaction, and the exchange of experiences and knowledge in reconstruction efforts, Hajiyev noted.
