Tashkent: The President of the Republic of Uzbekistan, Shavkat Mirziyoyev, reached out to the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan, Ilham Aliyev, through a phone call to discuss the strengthening of bilateral relations between the two nations.
According to Azeri-Press News Agency, the dialogue between the two leaders revolved around enhancing the friendship, strategic partnership, and alliance between Azerbaijan and Uzbekistan. This conversation follows the Azerbaijani President’s state visit to Uzbekistan in August of the previous year, focusing on the practical implementation of agreements made during that visit.
Both presidents expressed their satisfaction with the achievements of the “Year of Economic Cooperation,” noting significant progress in various sectors. They observed a 20% increase in trade turnover since the start of the year and discussed ongoing projects in machinery, textiles, electrical engineering, energy, agriculture, and tourism. Additionally, they acknowledged a vibrant joint program of cultural and humanitarian exchange.
The leaders emphasized the need for meticulous preparation for upcoming high-level summits this year. They also discussed the forthcoming session of the intergovernmental commission, the forum of regions and rectors, and various cultural events.
In their conversation, the Presidents of Azerbaijan and Uzbekistan also exchanged views on regional issues, future multilateral events, and cooperation within the Organization of Turkic States.
