President Ilham Aliyev Reappoints Kamran Aliyev as Azerbaijan’s Prosecutor General


Baku: Kamran Aliyev has been reappointed as the Prosecutor General of the Republic of Azerbaijan, APA reports. President Ilham Aliyev has signed an order to this effect.



According to Azeri-Press News Agency, the reappointment follows Article 16 of the Law on the Prosecutor’s Office, which states that the term of office for the Prosecutor General is five years. Kamran Aliyev was first appointed to this position on May 1, 2020.



According to the Constitution, the Milli Majlis (Parliament) of the Republic of Azerbaijan gives consent to the appointment and dismissal of the Prosecutor General upon the recommendation of the President. At today’s parliamentary session, the issue of consenting to the appointment of the Prosecutor General was discussed, and the parliament approved Kamran Aliyev’s reappointment to the position.
