President Ilham Aliyev Participates in Shusha Residential Complex Groundbreaking and Inaugurates Key Energy Facilities

Shusha: President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev, along with First Lady Mehriban Aliyeva, attended the groundbreaking ceremony for a new residential complex in Shusha on May 9, as reported by APA.

According to Azeri-Press News Agency, the latest residential project in Shusha will feature the construction of 16 buildings on a 6.2-hectare site. The complex will include 274 apartments varying from one to five rooms. The development will also include essential social infrastructure to support the community.

Following the liberation of Shusha from occupation on November 8, 2020, efforts to rebuild and restore the city have been underway. The restoration aims to maintain Shusha’s historical and cultural essence while facilitating the return of its original residents. So far, 376 families, comprising more than 1,409 former displaced persons, have returned to the city.

The city has already seen the completion of 23 buildings, providing 450 apartments to returning residents. Future plans include three additional projects, with ongoing public-private partnerships resulting in the construction of 10 residential complexes along the central street. These complexes will feature a mix of hotels, office buildings, and other essential facilities.

In addition to the residential complex ceremony, President Aliyev inaugurated the ‘Khojaly’ substation and the Digital Control Center owned by ‘Azerishig’ Open Joint Stock Company on the same day.
