President Ilham Aliyev Participates in SCO Plus Meeting in Bishkek


Baku: President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev addressed the SCO Plus format meeting held in Bishkek, the capital of Kyrgyzstan. The meeting took place at the Yrys Ordo Congress Hall, where President Aliyev was welcomed by the President of the Kyrgyz Republic, Sadyr Zhaparov, along with other heads of state and government.



According to Azeri-Press News Agency, the meeting’s participants posed for a family photo before President Aliyev delivered his speech. During his address, President Aliyev expressed gratitude to President Zhaparov for the invitation and hospitality extended during his visit. He highlighted the recent Treaty on Allied Relations signed between Azerbaijan and Kyrgyzstan, which has elevated bilateral relations to a new level.



President Aliyev congratulated Kyrgyzstan on its socio-economic achievements and its election as a non-permanent member of the UN Security Council for 2027-2028. He also discussed the peace agreement between Azerbaijan and Armenia, emphasizing the transformation of the South Caucasus region from a conflict zone to a zone of peace.



He noted that Azerbaijan has been supplying petroleum products to Armenia and is working on increasing mutual trade and creating new transport links. President Aliyev emphasized the need for the development of mechanisms for the swift implementation of UN Security Council resolutions to enhance the organization’s role in conflict resolution.



In conclusion, President Aliyev affirmed Azerbaijan’s commitment to contributing to the principles of multilateralism in international affairs, following its recent leadership of the Non-Aligned Movement. President Zhaparov thanked President Aliyev for his comprehensive speech, highlighting the importance of broad dialogue in forming a fair, multipolar world.
