Baku: President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev welcomed His Highness Sheikh Tahnoon bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Ruler of Abu Dhabi and National Security Advisor of the United Arab Emirates. The meeting took place on September 14, where Sheikh Tahnoon delivered greetings from UAE President Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan to President Aliyev, who reciprocated with his regards.
According to Azerbaijan State News Agency, both leaders acknowledged the growing strategic partnership between Azerbaijan and the UAE, noting satisfaction with the expanding bilateral cooperation across multiple fields. They highlighted the role of personal relationships between the leaders and their reciprocal visits in fortifying ties.
The presence of a large UAE delegation in Azerbaijan was emphasized as a key factor in fostering discussions on cooperation in various sectors. The meeting was followed by a document-signing ceremony attended by President Aliyev and Sheikh Tahnoon, marking significant agreements between the two nations.
The signed documents included a “Cooperation Agreement between Abu Dhabi Future Energy Company – Masdar and AGEC for the development of renewable energy projects in Azerbaijan” and a “Strategic Cooperation Agreement between Azerbaijan Investment Holding and L’IMAD HOLDING COMPANY PJSC”. Additional agreements covered mineral exploration, data center development, and financial close for a solar project, showcasing the breadth of the Azerbaijan-UAE collaboration.
