President Ilham Aliyev Honors Shafiga Mammadova with ‘Istiglal’ Order


Baku: On March 29, President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev received Shafiga Mammadova and presented her with the “Istiglal” Order, APA reports.



According to Azeri-Press News Agency, President Aliyev warmly welcomed Shafiga Mammadova and congratulated her on her upcoming birthday, expressing his best wishes for her health and success. He highlighted her significant contributions to Azerbaijani culture, particularly in theater and cinema, and recognized her as an esteemed actress, educator, and public figure. President Aliyev noted that National Leader Heydar Aliyev had always valued Mammadova’s work, honoring her with state awards from both Azerbaijan and the Soviet Union. During Azerbaijan’s independence, she was awarded the ‘Shohrat’ Order in 2000, and since then, she has received various high distinctions, including the ‘Sharaf’ Order, the ‘Amak’ Order of the First Category, and a Certificate of Merit. In his latest recognition, President Aliyev presented the ‘Istiglal’ Order to Mammadova.



Shafiga Mammadova expressed her gratitude to President Aliyev, describing the day as one of the happiest and most meaningful of her life. She conveyed her deep appreciation for the honor and expressed her well-wishes for the President, his family, and the nation. She also extended her respect and love to First Lady Mehriban Aliyeva, who, according to President Aliyev, would personally congratulate Mammadova as well. The presentation was marked by mutual expressions of respect and appreciation between President Aliyev and Shafiga Mammadova.
