Baku: President Ilham Aliyev has ratified the Kigali Amendment to the 1987 Montreal Protocol on Substances that Deplete the Ozone Layer. This significant step was made official as the president signed the relevant law.
According to Azeri-Press News Agency, the Kigali Amendment, dated October 15, 2016, focuses on phasing down the production and consumption of hydrofluorocarbons (HFCs), which are potent greenhouse gases. The ratification signifies Azerbaijan’s commitment to global efforts in mitigating climate change and protecting the ozone layer.
