Jabrayil: President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev and First Lady Mehriban Aliyeva attended the inauguration of Shukurbeyli village in the Jabrayil district on May 9.
According to Azeri-Press News Agency, the head of state first inaugurated a new 360-seat school in the village. Vahid Hajiyev, Special Representative of the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan in the Jabrayil, Gubadli, and Zangilan districts, along with Rovshan Rzayev, Chairman of the State Committee for Refugees and IDPs, briefed the President and the First Lady on the developments in Shukurbeyli. The village, located 18 kilometers southeast of the district center, was previously occupied by Armenian forces in 1993. It was liberated by the Azerbaijani Army during the Patriotic War in 2020, and President Aliyev laid the foundation stone for its reconstruction in 2023.
Minister of Science and Education Emin Amrullayev provided details on the facilities established at the school. The school is equipped with subject classrooms, science laboratories, and specialized rooms for informatics, technology, and initial military training. Additionally, it includes a library, assembly hall, gym, and canteen, along with outdoor football and basketball courts. These facilities are part of the broader reconstruction efforts in Azerbaijan’s liberated territories, emphasizing modern educational infrastructure.
During the ceremony, President Aliyev and First Lady Aliyeva also reviewed the conditions of individual houses built in the village and interacted with the residents who have relocated there. President Aliyev presented house keys to the residents, symbolizing the return to their homes in the newly reconstructed village.
