Baku: President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev, First Lady Mehriban Aliyeva, and their daughter Leyla Aliyeva visited the Alley of Honors to commemorate National Leader Heydar Aliyev. December 12 marks the 22nd anniversary of the passing of the architect and founder of the modern and independent Azerbaijani state, a world-renowned politician, and National Leader of the Azerbaijani people.
According to Trend News Agency, President Ilham Aliyev laid a wreath at the National Leader’s grave as the National Anthem of Azerbaijan played, marking the solemn occasion. The visit was not only to honor Heydar Aliyev but also to pay respects to other notable figures in the Aliyev family.
President Ilham Aliyev, alongside First Lady Mehriban Aliyeva and their daughter Leyla Aliyeva, placed flowers at the grave of Zarifa Aliyeva, the National Leader’s wife, who was a distinguished ophthalmologist and academician. The family also took the opportunity to honor the memory of prominent statesman Aziz Aliyev and professor Tamerlan Aliyev by placing flowers at their graves.
