President Ilham Aliyev Advocates for Permanent Removal of Section 907 by US Congress

New york: President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev has called for the permanent removal of Section 907 by the US Congress, emphasizing its potential to strengthen trust and cooperation. Speaking at the 80th session of the UN General Assembly, Aliyev highlighted the significance of President Trump’s previous waiver of the sanctions imposed on Azerbaijan in 1992 through Section 907 of the Freedom Support Act.

According to Azeri-Press News Agency, Aliyev described the waiver as a historic step and noted that eliminating Section 907 permanently would address a legacy of double standards. He asserted that such a move would bolster trust and cooperation, particularly as Azerbaijan plays a role in contributing to global security and stability.
