Baku: President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev has addressed the participants of the Joint Meeting of ASOSAI and ARABOSAI organizations.
According to Azeri-Press News Agency, the Chamber of Accounts of the Republic of Azerbaijan is hosting the meeting in Baku, marking a notable event for supreme audit institutions.
In his address, President Aliyev welcomed the attendees of the Asian Organization of Supreme Audit Institutions (ASOSAI) and the Arab Organization of Supreme Audit Institutions (ARABOSAI). He emphasized the significance of United Nations General Assembly resolutions from 2011 and 2014, which aim to enhance the efficiency, accountability, and transparency of public administration by strengthening supreme audit institutions. The presence of many heads of supreme audit institutions from ASOSAI and ARABOSAI member organizations, along with representatives from the International Organization of Supreme Audit Institutions (INTOSAI), underscores the event’s importance.
President Aliyev highlighted the meeting as a validation of Azerbaijan’s efforts to bolster its supreme audit institution’s role in promoting accountability and transparency in state fund usage. He stressed the importance of sustainable development and the need for effective resource management to address economic, social, and environmental challenges. He also commended the meeting’s focus on studying international experiences related to sustainable development and the transition to a digital economy.
The advancement of artificial intelligence technologies was another key point in President Aliyev’s address. He noted its transformative impact on public administration, the economy, and various other sectors, advocating for increased cooperation between the public and private sectors to foster an innovation-friendly environment. The application of artificial intelligence in state auditing was seen as a means to enhance audit services and contribute to sustainable development.
Additionally, President Aliyev underlined the importance of addressing climate change impacts and the need for substantial financial resources for adaptation efforts. He reiterated Azerbaijan’s commitment to this issue, as evidenced by the COP29 event held in the country.
The joint meeting commenced with the National Anthem and an opening speech from Vugar Gulmammadov, Chairman of the Chamber of Accounts of the Republic of Azerbaijan. Natig Amirov, Assistant to the President and Head of the Department of Economic Policy and Industrial Issues, subsequently read President Aliyev’s address to the participants.
