Aghdara: President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev reviewed the Master Plan for the city of Aghdara, as reported by APA. The review took place on January 13, where President Aliyev was briefed by Anar Guliyev, Chairman of the State Committee on Urban Planning and Architecture, on the comprehensive development strategy for the city.
According to Azeri-Press News Agency, the Master Plan outlines an expansion of Aghdara’s residential area from 444 hectares to 522 hectares, with the city’s population expected to reach 14,000 over a 20-year period. The plan features a conceptual scheme that includes the development of a city center, residential areas, and multifunctional public-business zones. It also envisions the creation of a terrace park, riverside boulevard, and zones dedicated to agrotourism, industry, and logistics. The initial phase of reconstruction will include a 420,000 square meter housing fund, an 80-bed hospital, five schools for 2,520 students, five kindergartens for 840 children, and a vocational school.
The first phase will see the development of a 104-hectare city center, accommodating 3,590 residents by 2030. Infrastructure plans include a 46.8-kilometer road and street network and 10 kilometers of bicycle lanes. Architectural designs for public and residential buildings have been finalized, marking significant progress towards Aghdara’s urban transformation.
Following his review, President Aliyev provided directives for the project’s implementation. Additionally, residential buildings for military personnel were commissioned, with repair and restoration completed on three buildings. These buildings contain 72 apartments, ranging from one to four rooms, and are equipped with essential utilities and amenities, ensuring comfort for servicemen and their families. Landscaping efforts have enhanced the surroundings with new greenery and relaxation areas for residents.
