President Aliyev Calls for Mechanisms to Implement UN Security Council Resolutions Swiftly

Baku: During his speech at the SCO Plus format meeting, President Ilham Aliyev highlighted the implementation of resolutions adopted by the UN in 1993 regarding Azerbaijan. Emphasizing that four resolutions adopted by the UN Security Council in 1993 were implemented three years ago, 30 years later, the head of state noted: “However, unfortunately, the UN played no role in the implementation of these resolutions. Azerbaijan entirely restored its sovereignty and territorial integrity on its own. The development of appropriate mechanisms is required for the swift implementation of UN Security Council resolutions.”

According to Azerbaijan State News Agency, President Aliyev underscored the need for the international community to develop effective mechanisms that would facilitate the timely execution of UN Security Council resolutions. He pointed out the lapse of three decades before Azerbaijan could implement the resolutions, emphasizing the necessity of ensuring that future resolutions are acted upon promptly to prevent prolonged conflicts and disputes.
