OTS Secretary General Highlights Impact of Trump Route on Central Corridor Initiative

Baku: “The realization of the Trump route will give an additional boost to the success of the Central Corridor initiative,” Mr. Kubanychbek Omuraliev, Secretary General of the Organization of Turkic States, said in an interview with APA.

According to Azeri-Press News Agency, the proposed Trump Corridor for International Peace and Prosperity (TRIPP) is set to open a 43km stretch in Zangazur, serving as an America-administered route that connects Azerbaijan to the Nakhchivan region. This corridor is expected to become a pivotal part of a significant trade route from Central Asia through Azerbaijan and Turkey to global markets.

Mr. Omuraliev explained that this route, known as the ‘Middle Corridor,’ offers strategic advantages over other paths, including a shorter distance, favorable climate conditions, and political stability. The Organization of Turkic States has actively developed various projects to enhance the Middle Corridor’s viability as an international trade route between Europe and China. The Secretary General believes that the successful implementation of the Trump route will further accelerate the Middle Corridor’s success.

Highlighting the United States’ role, Mr. Omuraliev noted the importance of the recent peace efforts between Azerbaijan and Armenia. He welcomed the Joint Declaration signed in Washington in August 2025, under U.S. mediation, which marked a breakthrough in the peace process. He emphasized that this development is not only significant for Azerbaijan and Armenia but also for the broader South Caucasus region, fostering lasting peace, stability, and prosperity.
