Nordic-Baltic Officials Convene in Baku for Regional Security Talks

Baku: Senior officials from the Nordic-Baltic countries have gathered in Azerbaijan’s capital, Baku, to engage in discussions focusing on regional security and the ongoing peace process between Armenia and Azerbaijan.

According to Azeri-Press News Agency, a statement from Sweden’s embassy in Baku indicated that directors responsible for Eastern Europe met with senior Azerbaijani officials and representatives of civil society and think tanks.

Key attendees at the meetings included Hikmet Hajiyev, Assistant to the President of Azerbaijan, Elchin Amirbayov, the President’s Special Representative for Special Assignments, Deputy Foreign Minister Fariz Rzayev, and Mammad Talibov, head of the European department at the foreign ministry.

The discussions spanned various topics, primarily aiming at advancing peace and normalization between Armenia and Azerbaijan, addressing wider regional security concerns, and enhancing bilateral ties.

This visit marks the second official trip by the Nordic-Baltic group in this format, known as NB8, following a similar visit by political directors to Baku in spring last year.
