New Azerbaijan Party Urges Turkish Politicians to Respect Azerbaijan’s Sovereignty

Baku:The New Azerbaijan Party (YAP) has expressed concern over recent statements made by Turkish political figures, including Oktay Saral, Chief Advisor to the President of Turkey, and members of parliament from the ruling Justice and Development Party (AKP), which it views as disrespectful to Azerbaijan’s sovereignty and internal affairs.

According to Azerbaijan State News Agency, YAP criticized the dissemination of biased and defamatory information about Azerbaijan in Turkish media outlets linked to the AKP government. Despite the historical bonds between the two nations, YAP has called for restraint to prevent such actions from harming bilateral relations.

The party particularly condemned efforts to misrepresent Azerbaijan’s relations with Israel and emphasized Azerbaijan’s consistent support for the Palestinian cause, including financial and humanitarian aid. Azerbaijan’s stance on the Palestinian issue is rooted in international law and the principle of a two-state solution.

YAP highlighted Azerbaijan’s commitment to Islamic solidarity and mutual respect, noting the upcoming 2027 Summit of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation to be held in Azerbaijan as a sign of international trust. The party urged against interference in Azerbaijan’s internal matters and criticized attempts to use religious and secular values for political manipulation, which could deepen social polarization in Turkey.

YAP reaffirmed the principle of “One nation, two states,” underscoring that it does not justify interference in each other’s affairs. The party called on Turkish political circles to respect Azerbaijan’s sovereignty and constitutional structure, hoping for a resolution that preserves the strong ties between the two countries.
