New Allowance and Privilege Introduced for Diplomats Called Up for Military Service

Baku: A new allowance and privilege have been introduced for diplomats called up for military service, APA reports. This development is part of the newly proposed Articles 13.14-1 and 13.14-2 of the Law ‘On Diplomatic Service,’ which were discussed at a meeting of the International Relations and Interparliamentary Ties Committee of the Milli Majlis.

According to Azeri-Press News Agency, the draft specifies that if a diplomatic service employee’s service is terminated due to being called up for compulsory military or alternative service, they will receive an allowance equal to three times their average monthly state salary. This provision aims to provide financial support to those diplomats during their time of service.

Additionally, the draft outlines that except in cases where the diplomatic service body is dissolved, individuals who served in diplomatic positions before being called up for compulsory military service and apply to return to their previous diplomatic position no later than 60 calendar days after being discharged from military service will be reinstated to their previous or an equivalent position within the diplomatic service body.
