Murad Fetiyev Arrested in Azerbaijan on Charges of Separatism and Terrorism

Baku:Murad Fetiyev, who was internationally wanted for organizing separatist activities, has been arrested in Azerbaijan, as announced by the Press Service of the State Security Service.

According to Azeri-Press news agency, ongoing operational-search measures conducted by the State Security Service led to the apprehension of Murad Garib oghlu Fetiyev. He had been on the international wanted list since 2025 and has now been brought to Azerbaijan for investigation.

Murad Fetiyev is accused of acting on instructions from radical centers controlled from abroad. He reportedly created various groups on social media with the intent to undermine the territorial integrity of the Republic of Azerbaijan, incite national hatred and hostility, and recruit representatives of an ethnic minority who held extremist views into these groups. He is also alleged to have organized the selection of individuals with radical views for gathering information on strategic facilities and making public calls for terrorism.

Previously, several members of his criminal group were prosecuted and arrested for planning attacks on a state enterprise and taking hostages, aimed at weakening the defense capabilities and economic security of Azerbaijan.

Court proceedings have begun against Murad Fetiyev, who faces charges under Articles 214-2 (Public calls for terrorism), 283-1 (Incitement of national, racial, social or religious hatred and hostility), and other sections of the Criminal Code of the Republic of Azerbaijan.
