Baku: In a session of the Milli Majlis today, MP Rizvan Nabiyev expressed a positive assessment of the growing support for Azerbaijan’s peace agenda in Armenia, APA reports. The MP emphasized that Azerbaijan’s peace agenda is a cornerstone for the region’s sustainable development.
According to Azeri-Press News Agency, MP Rizvan Nabiyev highlighted that the peace agenda proposed by Azerbaijan has become a significant element in the political landscape of Armenia. He noted that during the recent elections in Armenia, the ruling party included Azerbaijan’s peace agenda as a key component of their platform. Despite attempts by various centers of power to influence the elections by supporting specific candidates, Azerbaijan maintained its stance by consistently promoting the peace agenda. The initiatives led by Azerbaijan’s President were instrumental in pushing Armenia away from its previous revanchist policies.
Nabiyev noted that the Armenian government initially did not prioritize peace and even attempted to continue its occupation policy. However, Azerbaijan’s peace agenda has established a new political reality in the region. The MP underscored that the Armenian government’s growing support for this agenda is crucial, as the peace agreement’s signing, implementation, and execution depend heavily on Armenia’s commitment to the agreed terms.
At present, diplomatic relations between Azerbaijan and Armenia have not been established. Nabiyev stressed the importance of signing and ratifying the peace agreement after Azerbaijan’s conditions are met and ensuring that all obligations under the 17 agreed articles are fully implemented.
Speaker of the Milli Majlis Sahiba Gafarova also voiced her support for Nabiyev’s remarks, recalling statements by President Ilham Aliyev regarding the impact of Azerbaijan’s victory on the regional situation. She highlighted that the President’s leadership had significantly altered the dynamics in the region.
