Baku: More than 630 million tonnes of oil have been transported through the BTC pipeline since its inception in June 2006. In the first half of 2026, BTC Co. allocated approximately $75 million towards operating expenditure and $57 million in capital expenditure.
According to Azeri-Press News Agency, BP’s report on its operations in Azerbaijan for the first half of 2026 highlighted that the BTC pipeline, spanning 1,768 km, has successfully moved over 4.7 billion barrels (around 631 million tonnes) of crude oil. This oil was loaded onto 6,276 tankers and dispatched to international markets.
In the first six months of 2026 alone, approximately 97 million barrels (13 million tonnes) of BTC-exported crude oil were lifted at the Ceyhan terminal and loaded onto 131 tankers. The BTC pipeline primarily transports ACG crude oil and Shah Deniz condensate from Azerbaijan, with additional volumes of Caspian regional crude oil and condensate from Kazakhstan, Turkmenistan, and other SOCAR-produced volumes in Azerbaijan.
Effective from 1 July 2026, the operatorship of the BTC pipeline, as well as the associated activities with both the BTC and South Caucasus Pipeline (SCP) systems, transitioned from BP Exploration (Caspian Sea) Limited to SOCAR Midstream Operations LLC, a fully owned subsidiary of SOCAR.
