Mongolian Minister Announces New Direct Flights Agreement with Azerbaijan


Leipzig: Mongolia and Azerbaijan have charted a new course in their bilateral relations with the signing of an intergovernmental Agreement on Air Services. This development was announced by Borkhuu Delgersaikhan, Mongolia’s Minister of Roads and Transport, during the International Transport Forum (ITF) Summit in Leipzig, Germany.



According to Azerbaijan State News Agency, Delgersaikhan expressed his congratulations to Azerbaijan for hosting the ITF Ministerial Summit with great success. He highlighted the significance of his meeting with Rashad Nabiyev, Azerbaijan’s Minister of Digital Development and Transport, where they formalized the air services agreement. This agreement is set to establish a legal framework that will facilitate broad cooperation in the aviation sector, including the introduction of direct flights between Mongolia and Azerbaijan.



Delgersaikhan further stated that both countries have agreed to work towards finalizing an agreement on road transport relations soon. He emphasized the strategic importance of Azerbaijan as a transit hub along the Middle Corridor, which links Asia and Europe, and expressed Mongolia’s intent to integrate with this corridor. The minister underscored that these efforts are poised to strengthen the longstanding brotherly ties between the two nations.
