Kerch: Russia’s Federal Security Service (FSB) in Crimea has detained a Moldovan national, Yevgeny Kurdogly, on charges of working for Ukrainian intelligence agencies, according to a statement released by the FSB, APA reports citing TASS. The operation took place in the city of Kerch and led to the detention of Kurdogly, who was born in 1992 and identified as an agent of Ukrainian intelligence.
According to Azeri-Press News Agency, the suspect provided the coordinates of a cache that contained an improvised high-explosive device. The device was made with 400 grams of Semtex10 plastic explosive, an electric detonator, and a timing device. It was intended to be used in an attack on a water pumping station in Kerch. The FSB specified that Kurdogly had established contact with a Ukrainian intelligence officer online in April 2024. Under the officer’s orders, he collected various forms of information, including photos and videos related to military equipment, air defense positions, transport and energy facilities, and the outcomes of enemy strikes in Crimea.
The FSB noted that the detainee has confessed to the charges and is cooperating with the investigation. A criminal investigation has been launched by the FSB investigation department in Crimea and Sevastopol. Kurdogly is being charged under Articles 30.1 and 205.3, which pertain to preparations for a terrorist attack, and Article 222.1.3, related to the illegal acquisition and storage of explosives and explosive devices, as per the Russian Criminal Code.
