Minister Kamaladdin Heydarov Participates in International Earthquake Memorial Event in Uzbekistan

Tashkent: On April 29, a delegation from the Ministry of Emergency Situations of the Republic of Azerbaijan, led by Minister Colonel General Kamaladdin Heydarov, visited Uzbekistan to participate in an international event commemorating the “International Day in Memory of the Victims of Earthquakes.”

According to Azeri-Press News Agency, the delegation’s visit began with a tribute to Heydar Aliyev, the National Leader of Azerbaijan, at a monument in Tashkent, where they laid flowers in his honor. The “International Day in Memory of the Victims of Earthquakes” was established by the UN General Assembly last year at Uzbekistan’s initiative.

The event served as a platform for international collaboration, with representatives from various countries and organizations exchanging knowledge on earthquake preparedness and resilience. Discussions highlighted the need for countries to mobilize resources to mitigate earthquake risks and foster a global dialogue among experts in seismic safety.

During the event, participants visited the ‘Courage’ monument, commemorating the 1966 Tashkent earthquake victims. Minister Heydarov also met with his Uzbek counterpart, Major General Azizbek Ikramov, to discuss bilateral cooperation.

Minister Heydarov praised the event’s organization and reiterated the strategic partnership between Azerbaijan and Uzbekistan, emphasizing the ongoing implementation of their Joint Action Plan for 2026-2027. Minister Ikramov expressed gratitude for the Azerbaijani delegation’s participation and noted the expanding relations between the two countries, particularly in emergency management.

The meeting concluded with a comprehensive exchange of views on mutual interests.
