Liverpool Stunned by Palace, Finish Runners-Up in Supercopa

Liverpool: Liverpool lost to Crystal Palace on penalties and finished as runners-up in the English Super Cup (Community Shield), APA reports citing Yahoo Sports. The match, held at Wembley, concluded with a 2-2 draw, leading to a penalty shootout where Palace secured a 3-2 victory.

According to Azeri-Press News Agency, the Super Cup is contested between the English Cup champion, this year Crystal Palace, and the Premier League champion, Liverpool. This triumph marks the first time Crystal Palace has claimed this prestigious trophy in their history.

Liverpool’s runners-up finish comes in the wake of significant investment, with the club spending over 300 million euros (almost R$ 2 billion) in the transfer window. Despite their substantial financial outlay, Liverpool was unable to secure the title, leaving Crystal Palace to celebrate their historic win.
