Since the beginning of the year, 32 children have been diagnosed with leukemia in Kyrgyzstan, head of the department of pediatric oncology and oncohematology of the National Center for Maternal and Child Health Sultan Stambekov told during a press conference at the Kabar News Agency.

He said that this indicator is not final and soon the growth of children with acute hematological and oncological diseases is possible.

“Last year, due to the epidemiological situation with COVID-19, statistics on children with cancer improved. So, in 2021, leukemia was diagnosed in 48 children, this is due to the fact that many simply did not realize that the child had an oncological disease and simply did not reach the hospital,” he said.

A low mortality rate of 11 children was registered in 2021 and 26-28 people in 2020.
