Legal Status for Azerbaijan’s Presidential Representative on Climate Issues Determined


Baku: The position of the Representative of the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan on Climate Issues has been officially added to the first classification of administrative and auxiliary positions. This development was reported by APA, highlighting an amendment to the ‘Law on Civil Service’ approved by President Ilham Aliyev.



According to Azeri-Press News Agency, the amendment aims to expand the scope of the first classification of administrative and auxiliary positions, thereby formalizing the legal status of the climate representative role. This move underscores the significance Azerbaijan places on addressing climate issues at a governmental level.



It is noteworthy that Mukhtar Babayev was appointed as the Representative of the President on Climate Issues by a decree of President Ilham Aliyev, dated February 5, 2025. This appointment aligns with Azerbaijan’s broader strategy to tackle climate change impacts through dedicated leadership and focused administrative efforts.
