Land Allocated for Construction of 24 Metro Stations in Baku

Baku: Land plots have been allocated for the construction of 24 metro stations in Baku, APA-Economics reports. This development was outlined in the ‘Report on the activities of the Cabinet of Ministers of the Republic of Azerbaijan for 2025,’ which was discussed at today’s session of the Milli Majlis.

According to Azeri-Press News Agency, the allocation is part of the ‘State Program for the Improvement of Transport Infrastructure in Baku and Surrounding Areas for 2025-2030.’ Last year, 30 new metro cars were delivered to the Baku Metro, out of which 20 have already been put into operation. The program includes not only the construction of 24 stations but also plans for 3 electric depots and 16 ventilation shafts.

To enhance the reliability of the metro’s energy system, diagnostics of the traction power network for the Red and Green lines were conducted under a contract with the Russian University of Transport. Additionally, a project to separate the Green and Red lines at the ’28 May’ station is in place, involving the construction of two temporary shafts, with land plots already allocated for this purpose. An expert opinion was obtained on geological exploration works related to the construction of a transition chamber at the ‘Icherisheher’ station, and work has commenced on relocating underground communication lines.
