Kyrgyz expert: It is important for Kyrgyzstan to build dialogue with Qatar for full interaction

Political scientist Bakyt Baketaev shared his expectations regarding the first state visit of the Emir of Qatar, Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani to Kyrgyzstan with Kabar News Agency. ‘Now there is an opportunity to establish direct cooperation, without ‘third parties’. Therefore, the first state visit of the Emir of Qatar to Kyrgyzstan is very important and promising. The talks between President Sadyr Zhaparov and Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani will be of key importance for building a dialogue, but on the basis of which further political and economic interaction will be built. Qatar is a small country (the territory is 20 times smaller than Kyrgyzstan), but very rich. Its GDP is $180 billion, which is 20 times more than ours. And in terms of per capita, this figure is almost a hundred times more. This is an influential country with an absolute monarchy, but at the same time, Qatar is quite democratic and multinational. Now it is important to find a balance in relations with Qatar, in the conditions of geopolitical and geo-economic instability, this is not an easy task, but it is quite solvable. I believe that at the talks in Bishkek, the heads of state will be able to build bridges of friendship and outline projects implementation of which will benefit the peoples of Qatar and Kyrgyzstan,’ Bakyt Baketaev said.
