Khizi-Absheron Gas Pipeline Section to Start Operations This Summer

Baku: Part of the “Khizi-Absheron” gas pipeline is set to begin operations this summer, marking a significant milestone for the ongoing energy projects in Azerbaijan. The 240 MW ‘Khizi-Absheron’ Wind Power Plant, under construction by Saudi Arabia’s ACWA Power company, will see its Absheron (Gobustan) section operational by August, according to Selim Guven, ACWA Power’s director for Azerbaijan and Trkiye. Guven made these remarks during his address at the 30th Anniversary ‘Baku Energy Forum’ held in Baku, as reported by APA-Economics.

According to Azeri-Press News Agency, the complete project is anticipated to be fully operational by the end of the year. The wind power plant comprises two sections with capacities of 80 megawatts and 160 megawatts, respectively. Guven detailed that the project will be executed in phases, with the initial 80-megawatt segment set to be commissioned in August.

Guven further explained that subsequent phases are scheduled for September and October, with the entire project wrapping up by year-end. This development underscores the ongoing efforts to enhance energy infrastructure and capacity in the region.
