Kazakhstan renovates 10 border checkpoints

Renovation and installation works have been underway at 10 checkpoints on the border in Kazakhstan since 2022, representative of the State Revenue Committee of Kazakhstan Yeldos Saudabayev said. The automobile checkpoint “Kaplanbek” on the border of Kazakhstan with Uzbekistan is completely closed for reconstruction. At other checkpoints, repair work is carried out without closing, but with a restriction on the movement of cars and individuals. The throughput will be increased from 1,000 to 10,000 vehicles. The registration time will be reduced to 2 hours 25 minutes and corruption risks will be minimized. “After the reconstruction is completed, the infrastructure problems of the checkpoints will be solved. All conditions will be created for a comfortable border crossing and accelerated control,” Saudabayev added. It is planned to complete the reconstruction at all checkpoints by the end of 2024.
