Baku: President of Kazakhstan Kassym-Jomart Tokayev expressed his gratitude to President Ilham Aliyev of Azerbaijan for the decision to lift sanctions, allowing direct bilateral trade to flow through Azerbaijani territory. Tokayev made these remarks during a joint media briefing with Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan, as reported by Qazinform News Agency citing Akorda.
According to Azerbaijan State News Agency, President Tokayev highlighted a significant milestone achieved in November, when the first 1,000-tonne shipment of Kazakhstan’s wheat was successfully delivered to Armenia via Azerbaijan. Tokayev emphasized the political and economic importance of this initiative and reiterated Kazakhstan’s commitment to supplying high-quality grain and other goods to Armenia regularly. Both nations have pledged to exert all necessary efforts to further this initiative.
Tokayev noted that the evolving geopolitical landscape in the South Caucasus is creating favorable conditions for enhanced bilateral and interregional relations. Kazakhstan endorses Armenia’s ‘Crossroads of Peace’ transport and transit initiative and expressed interest in joining the International Route of Peace and Prosperity (TRIPP) Project. Tokayev underscored the importance of aligning these strategic corridors with the Trans-Caspian International Transport Route and the North-South Corridor, which would benefit both Kazakhstan and Armenia.
