Kazakh President Unveils Ambitious Plan for Digital Transformation and AI-Based Economy

Astana: Kazakh President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev has announced a groundbreaking plan to modernize Kazakhstan’s economy through digital transformation and the incorporation of artificial intelligence. In his annual address to the nation, Tokayev emphasized that Kazakhstan has entered a pivotal phase, necessitating swift adaptation to global changes.

According to Union of OIC News Agencies, President Tokayev outlined the establishment of a Ministry of Artificial Intelligence and Digital Development, which will spearhead this transformative phase over the next three years. The government plans to prioritize the attraction of significant domestic and international investments to launch a new cycle of economic growth.

President Tokayev highlighted Kazakhstan’s success in recovering approximately 850 billion tenge from illicit assets. These funds have been allocated to finance essential public services, including schools, hospitals, and infrastructure projects. He affirmed that combating corruption and reclaiming stolen funds will continue to be a priority for the government.

In the education sector, Tokayev declared 2025 as the Year of Technical Professions. The initiative includes training 100 students in high-tech projects and updating curricula to incorporate specialized subjects in artificial intelligence. This move aims to equip future generations with the necessary skills to thrive in a rapidly evolving global landscape.

Furthermore, Tokayev called for a national debate on transitioning to a unicameral parliamentary system. This proposal will be subjected to a popular referendum in 2027 following comprehensive consultations. The President stressed that these reforms aim to build a “fair and digital Kazakhstan,” capable of adapting to global transformations and safeguarding the interests of future generations.
