Baku: Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian has declared Iran’s recognition of Azerbaijan’s sovereignty over the Karabakh region, emphasizing its status as an inseparable part of Azerbaijan. During an expanded-format meeting with Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev in Baku on April 28, Pezeshkian affirmed Tehran’s respect for Azerbaijan’s territorial rights.
According to Azeri-Press News Agency, President Pezeshkian stated, “We recognize your right, the right of Azerbaijan and the dear people of Azerbaijan over Karabakh and other territories that should belong to Azerbaijan.” The Iranian President further commented on the significance of his visit, suggesting it provided an opportunity to strengthen bilateral relations and unity between the two nations.
Pezeshkian’s remarks underscore Iran’s stance on the regional issue, aligning with Azerbaijan’s long-standing position on the territorial integrity concerning Karabakh. The meeting between the two leaders marks a step towards closer cooperation and mutual understanding between their countries.
