Iranian Delegation Informed on Baku Port’s Cargo Handling Capacity


Baku: Today, the Deputy Prime Minister of the Republic of Azerbaijan, co-chairman of the State Commission on Economic, Trade and Humanitarian Cooperation between Azerbaijan and Iran from the Azerbaijani side, Shahin Mustafayev, and the Minister of Roads and Urban Development of the Islamic Republic of Iran, co-chair of the Commission from the Iranian side, Farzaneh Sadegh, along with the delegations of both countries, jointly visited the Baku International Sea Trade Port, the Cabinet of Ministers told APA.



According to Azeri-Press News Agency, a presentation about the Baku Port was demonstrated to the co-chairs, and information about the port’s history, infrastructure, and capabilities, including ongoing construction work under the second phase to increase the annual cargo handling capacity from 15 million tons to 25 million tons was provided.



It was noted that upon completion of the second phase, the expansion of the Baku port will further enhance its strategic importance as a transport and logistics hub connecting Europe and Asia.



Later, a tour was conducted to the main cargo terminal, Ro-Ro and Ferry terminals, and the sorting station.
