BAKU: Iran’s crude oil exports totaled $23.2 billion during the six months of the current Iranian year (from March 20 through September 21, 2024), Iran’s Deputy Minister of Economy and Finance and Director General of Customs Administration Mohammad Rezvanifar told reporters, Trend reports.
The official did not specify the volume of exported crude oil and to which countries it was exported.
According to him, Iran’s trade turnover for six months had a surplus of $17 billion if crude oil is taken into account. Thus, Iran’s trade turnover totaled $82.2 billion during the six months.
However, Iran cannot freely export the mentioned products due to the sanctions imposed by the US and Western countries. Therefore, great importance is attached to the export of non-oil products.
The value of Iran’s crude oil exports last Iranian year (from March 21, 2023, through March 19, 2024) amounted to approximately $35.9 billion.
At present, Iran is in the driver’s seat with 74 oil fields and 22 gas fields under its belt. T
he National Iranian South Oil Company has its hands full with 37 fields, while the National Iranian Central Oil Company keeps a close eye on 14. The Arvand Oil and Gas Company is in the thick of things with 5 fields, and the Offshore Oil Company is sailing smoothly with 18 fields under its belt.
Additionally, gas fields include 5 managed by the National Iranian South Oil Company, 13 by the National Iranian Central Oil Company, one by Pars Oil and Gas Company, and 3 by the Offshore Oil Company.
Iran’s treasure trove of hydrocarbon reserves stands at a whopping 1.2 trillion barrels, with 340 billion barrels ripe for the picking using today’s technology. The country can make hay while the sun shines with about 30 percent, while the other 70 percent is still sitting on the fence underground.
