New york: Iran’s Permanent Representative to the UN, Amir Saeed Iravani, sent a letter to UN Secretary-General Ant³nio Guterres and UN Security Council President Abukar Dahir Osman, equating statements by US President Donald Trump with incitement to violence in the Islamic Republic, APA reports.
According to Azeri-Press News Agency, Iravani’s letter expressed Tehran’s concerns over Trump’s recent statements, which he claimed amounted to incitement to violence, unrest, and terrorist acts within Iran. The envoy highlighted a particular statement from Trump where he asserted, “We are on full alert and ready to act,” which was perceived as a direct threat to the Islamic Republic of Iran regarding the potential use of force and intervention.
Iravani noted that these statements were particularly alarming given that Trump had previously threatened the use of force if Iran attempted to resume work on its nuclear program. He argued that any attempts to incite, encourage, or legitimize internal unrest as a pretext for external pressure or military intervention constituted a gross violation of Iran’s sovereignty, independence, and territorial integrity. Moreover, he emphasized that such actions were a clear violation of international law and the UN Charter.
The Iranian diplomat called for a condemnation and assessment of what he described as the US President’s reckless and provocative statements concerning Iran, labeling them a serious violation of the principles of the UN Charter.
