Khankendi: Under the leadership of Kolja Sporini, head of the Extreme Traveler International Congress (ETIC) club, a group of world-renowned international travelers visited Khankendi as part of a broader tour of Karabakh and East Zangezur. The visit was reported by APA’s Karabakh bureau.
According to Azeri-Press News Agency, the foreign travelers, hailing from countries including the USA, the UK, Germany, Belgium, Austria, Sweden, Ireland, and Portugal, explored Karabakh University, engaging with both teachers and students. The Director of the Research and Innovation Center at Karabakh University, Jeyhun Mammadov, briefed the guests on the city’s history and the university’s development. He highlighted that Karabakh University was established following an order by the President of Azerbaijan, Ilham Aliyev, on November 28, 2023, and has rapidly developed a modern educational infrastructure.
During their visit, the travelers toured the university’s library and took commemorative photographs with students. The delegation also included Charles Veley from the USA, the founder of the Most Traveled People (MTP) international travelers network, further enriching the cultural exchange.
The group also visited the central square of Khankendi, where they were informed about the city’s past. It was noted that the settlement, originally established in the 18th century, had been under Armenian control for 35 years. Later in the day, the travelers were scheduled to meet with more members of the university community, continuing their exploration of the region’s cultural and educational landscape.
