Inauguration of STS Crane Marks Milestone at Zira Seaport

Zira: The opening ceremony of the STS crane took place at the Zira seaport, APA reports. The event commenced with a moment of silence to honor the martyrs who sacrificed their lives for the freedom and sovereignty of Azerbaijan, followed by the playing of the National Anthem of the Republic of Azerbaijan.

According to Azeri-Press News Agency, the electrical and automation project of the STS (Ship-to-Shore) shore crane, which boasts a maximum load carrying capacity of 90 tons, represents a significant advancement in the development of modern port infrastructure at Zira port. This initiative aims to enhance port operation efficiency and ensure top-tier safety standards.

Musabey Suleymanov, the founder of the marine industrial complex, delivered a speech to officially open the event. The ceremony was attended by key contributors to the creation of the STS crane, along with deputies and public representatives. A ribbon-cutting ceremony for the STS portal crane followed, symbolizing the official inauguration.

Speakers at the event emphasized that the crane constructed by Zira Port is set to revitalize logistics in the Caspian region and bolster Azerbaijan’s industrial reputation globally. The STS crane, entirely designed and manufactured by Azerbaijani engineers, featured automation system products supplied by the internationally acclaimed Schneider Electric company, highlighting the country’s capability for high-tech production and cooperation with global partners.

The logistics and transport infrastructure of the Zira Seaport is robust, featuring a private railway line integrated into the port. The STS crane, built according to international standards, is four times faster than existing models, with an operating time of just 15 minutes. This development underscores Azerbaijan’s transition from an importer to an industrial producer with export potential.
