Sabirabad: As part of the ‘Green Marathon’ campaign led by Vice-President of the Heydar Aliyev Foundation and the founder and head of IDEA Public Union, Leyla Aliyeva, a significant tree-planting initiative has been executed in the Sabirabad and Jalilabad districts.

According to Azerbaijan State News Agency, volunteers participated actively in planting 1,250 trees, including cypress, Oriental plane, and Melia trees, in the Mamishlar village of Sabirabad district. In Jalilabad’s Kazimabad village, more than 600 cypress trees were planted, demonstrating a strong community commitment to environmental sustainability.

The “Nationwide Greening Marathon,” collaboratively organized by IDEA Public Union and the Ministry of Ecology and Natural Resources, aims to expand green areas, encourage tree-planting traditions, support environmental protection, enrich the country’s flora biodiversity, and enhance awareness about preserving greenery.

Under the “Green Marathon,” the initiative plans to plant nearly 2 million trees across Azerbaijan during the autumn 2025 and spring 2026 planting seasons, reflecting a long-term commitment to ecological improvement and sustainability.
