Istanbul: Galatasaray has officially begun negotiations to secure the transfer of Milan’s star winger, Rafael Leao, with the Turkish Super Lig club engaging in talks with the Serie A side. The 27-year-old Portuguese footballer is expected to travel to Istanbul today for a medical examination and to finalize his contract with Galatasaray.
According to Azeri-Press News Agency, Galatasaray has agreed to pay Milan £38 million for Leao’s transfer. The agreement also outlines an additional £5 million in potential bonuses. Leao is set to earn an annual salary of £9-10 million with the Istanbul club, with the potential to increase his earnings to £12 million, contingent on bonuses. These bonuses include conditions such as being nominated for the Ballon d’Or and becoming the Turkish Super Lig’s top scorer.
Rafael Leao, who has been with Milan since 2019, has a contract with the Italian club that extends until the summer of 2028. However, the opportunity with Galatasaray presents a new chapter for the Portugal international as he prepares to make his move to Turkey.
