Baku: “Ajmedia.news” has been officially declared illegal by the Media Development Agency of the Republic of Azerbaijan.
According to Azeri-Press News Agency, the agency issued a statement highlighting that certain entities claiming to represent various communities in Azerbaijan are failing to meet legal requirements to operate as media entities. The statement specifically targeted “Ajmedia.news,” an information portal purportedly established by the Azerbaijan Jewish Media Center and Jewish public figures.
The Media Development Agency’s statement emphasized the necessity for all media operating within Azerbaijan to comply with the Law of the Republic of Azerbaijan ‘On Media’ and to register in the ‘Media Registry’ Information System. “Ajmedia.news” has not fulfilled these requirements and further violated media ethics in its publications. Consequently, a court decision has declared its activities illegal.
The agency reiterated its stance that all media entities, including those representing specific communities, must adhere to legal standards and provide transparent and objective information about their operations. This requirement ensures that media entities maintain integrity in their reporting and representation across Azerbaijan.
