Foreign AI Dependency Poses Risks for Government Agencies, Official Warns

Baku:Government agencies relying on artificial intelligence solutions provided by foreign companies may encounter increased security and sustainability risks. This warning was issued by Nadir Novruzov, Head of Department at the State Service for Special Communication and Information Security, during the 8th Summit of Information Security Leaders.

According to Azeri-Press news agency, Novruzov highlighted the dangers of depending on application programming interfaces (APIs) from foreign suppliers. He posed critical questions about the continuity of AI solutions if these services were to be discontinued by any country or provider, stressing the need to address such dependencies.

Novruzov also discussed the new types of cyberattacks emerging with the integration of AI, including prompt injection and model poisoning, alongside the activities of autonomous attack agents. These agents have the capability to perform reconnaissance, exploit security flaws, gather data, and propagate through networks.

He urged information security officials within government agencies to proactively develop defense strategies to counter these evolving threats.
