First Resettlement Convoy Arrives in Seyidbayli Village of Azerbaijan’s Khojaly, Families Receive Their House Keys

Seyidbayli: On September 13, the first resettlement process to the village of Seyidbayli in the Khojaly district was carried out, the Public Relations Department of the Restoration, Construction and Management Service in the cities of Khankendi, Aghdara, and Khojaly told APA’s Karabakh bureau. In this initial phase, 30 people were relocated to the village and settled into their new homes.

According to Azeri-Press News Agency, Sabuhi Gahramanov, the Deputy of the Special Representative of the President in the city of Khankendi and the districts of Aghdara and Khojaly, presented the keys to the houses. He informed the residents that modern individual residential houses have been built in the village of Seyidbayli, with fully restored gas, electricity, and water lines, along with other social infrastructure facilities available for use. The residents expressed their joy in returning to their native land.

The village of Seyidbayli in the Khojaly district was under the occupation of the Armed Forces of Armenia from 1992 to 2020. Following the Second Karabakh War, according to the trilateral statement signed on November 10, 2020, the village came under the control of the Russian peacekeeping forces. It was only after the local anti-terror measures carried out on September 19-20, 2023, that the village was returned to the control of the Armed Forces of the Republic of Azerbaijan.

The resettlement convoy’s arrival in the village of Seyidbayli marks a significant step in the Great Return plan, as this is the first time the population is being relocated back to this area. In the first phase, 9 families, consisting of 31 people, have moved to the village. These families were previously temporarily settled in various parts of the republic, primarily in dormitories, sanatoriums, and administrative buildings.
